Leading medical IT businesswoman appointed as COO for IMS MAXIMS

IMS MAXIMS has announced the appointment of Evelyn Chalk as its first ever Chief Operating Officer. The creation of the new post reflects the recent rapid growth of the company, which is to position itself as a leader in electronic patient information systems (EPR) for the NHS and independent sectors.

Shane Tickell, IMS MAXIMS CEO, said: "Evelyn has an exceptional track record and a well-deserved reputation for putting customer service first. She has a tremendous ability to build effective and positive relationships with clients, and to ensure that her own staff have the resources they need to deliver a first-class service. Having worked in the NHS for nearly 20 years she has a detailed understanding of its achievements and challenges, and has a strong belief in the ability of good medical IT to improve patient services and organisational efficiency."

The addition of Evelyn to our senior team will be an important factor in helping IMS MAXIMS move forward to the next stages in its development."

Evelyn was previously the Strategic Alliance Director for pathology IT solutions company CliniSys and has held director and senior management roles in a variety of companies including Berkeley Computer Services Ltd, Torex and iSOFT. From 1973 to 1991 she worked as a biomedical scientist at leading hospitals such as the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Evelyn was in charge of the day-to-day running of the Blood Transfusion laboratory at Edinburgh's Western General Hospital, where she was involved in the introduction of its first IT system.

Evelyn said: "Having an insider's experience of the health service and of medical IT is hugely helpful for me because I understand customers' ambitions, needs and the problems they face achieving them. It was as an NHS employee that I first saw the potential of IT and I am deeply committed to the use of technology to improve patient services."

"I also know that delivering an IT project is about more than the product, there has to be a good relationship between supplier and customer to make it work. IMS MAXIMS has an excellent reputation for customer satisfaction, and this is a strength I hope to develop even further. I will be making sure our team has what it needs to meet, and hopefully exceed, customer expectations and I will also be out there myself talking to clients to ensure that we are providing exactly what they want and can continue to do so in the future."

During her career in the IT sector Evelyn has gained extensive experience in fields ranging from P&L management, business implementation, programme management, people process implementation, change management, business integration, contract and commercial management and strategic partnership management. As COO of IMS MAXIMS her roles will include taking overall responsibility for customer satisfaction among established clients and managing the company's own HR and IT functions.
