GE Healthcare appoints new Chief Medical Officer

GE Healthcare announced today that Dr. William (Pepper) Denman has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company.

Dr. Denman is the former Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Medical Affairs for Covidien, where he was responsible for strategic direction of medical affairs, clinical affairs and healthcare economics and outcomes across Covidien's entire medical device sector. Denman is currently involved in multiple clinical and basic science research projects at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen (United Kingdom).

The GE Healthcare Chief Medical Officer is the most senior physician in the company, with primary responsibility for all matters of patient safety. Dr. Denman will provide the clinical direction for GE, working with the Global Quality, Regulatory and Medical organization to improve process rigor around clinical trial design, academic research partnerships, and medical risk assessments. Dr. Denman also will lead all clinical and evidence generation strategies, driving technology and scientific synergies across all of GE Healthcare.

Denman will be part of GE Healthcare's newly expanded Global Quality, Regulatory & Medical organization, led by Chief Quality Officer Dee Mellor.
